Can You Cook Kielbasa In An Air Fryer?

Air fryers are incredibly useful tools – they’re just as great for fully cooking undercooked pizza as they are in simply reheating it!

That being said, it’s no surprise that you can cook kielbasa – and other smoked sausages, for that matter – in the air fryer! The best part is that you can even cook them from frozen if need be, making them perfect for days when you don’t have time to prepare much.

I’ll be guiding you through on how to do both at the end of this article, but first we’ll be going over some of the basics.

What Temperature Do You Cook Kielbasa In An Air Fryer?

If you’re worried about the air fryer kielbasa temperature, there’s a simple guideline you can follow.

For fresh (unfrozen) kielbasa, you’ll generally need something around 370 ºF. Frozen sausages do better with a slightly higher temperature – anything from 390 ºF to 400 ºF is suitable.

However, the tricky part is that it depends a little on the brand of your air fryer. Beneath the section addressing how long it takes to cook kielbasa, I’ve made a table of the best temperatures and cooking times for different models.

If you’re still unsure on this though, there’s still not much need to worry. In the event that your fryer hasn’t cooked the sausages through completely, or baked them to the crisp you like, just place them in for a little longer. If you’re worried about burning them, it’s easy to check in during the cooking process as you’ll have to flip them. If it seems like they’re cooking too fast, simply lower the temperature.

How Long Do Sausages Take To Cook In An Air Fryer: Answering Everything

How Long Does Kielbasa Take In The Air Fryer?

As explained above, it doesn’t take too long to cook kielbasa in the air fryer; especially if you’re cooking fresh sausages. It takes around 10 minutes to cook fresh kielbasa links in the air fryer, or around 14 for frozen sausages. This may vary from different models, so I’ve added a table beneath the next subheading for further explanation.

Still, it’s nothing to get too worried about. You’ll be able to tell when your links are done by checking them with a food thermometer (should reach at least 160ºF) or by checking if they are no longer pink inside and whether their skins are crispy.

How To Cook Smoked Sausage In Air Fryer – Method:

  1. Begin by preheating your air fryer 370 ºF.
  2. After this, you can optionally rub down your sausages with a thin layer of olive oil. This will make your kielbasa or smoked sausage extra crispy.
  3. Now either chop the links into slices, or slit them at intervals if you plan to place them in whole. This will prevent your sausage from exploding while cooking.
  4. Place your links into the air fryer and cook them for five minutes on each side at 370 ºF. Flip them at the five minute mark by taking the basket out and turning the sausages over, then place it back in for another five minutes.
  5. When the total ten minutes is up – or when they’re sufficiently browned for your taste – take your sausages out. You can tell they’re done by looking at the skin – it should be crispy and brown.
  6. Finally, take them out of the air fryer and serve with anything else you have prepared. You could make some boneless chicken thighs in the air fryer too, with some other meats to make an easy ’inside barbeque’. Alternatively, you can make your kielbasa into hotdogs and serve with green or red jalapeños, crispy onions and your favorite condiments. This works even better for a cozy movie night – just add some air fryer popcorn to the mix!

Frozen Kielbasa In Air Fryer: How To Cook From Frozen

  1. To cook kielbasa from frozen in the air fryer, start by preheating it to 400ºF. Place in your sausages into the basket and, just like if you were to make dino nuggets in an air fryer, take care to make sure it isn’t too full.
  2. Cook your sausages for 2-3 minutes before pulling out the basket. Use your thumb and forefinger to separate the links, putting the back of your hand near the open air fryer first to check it isn’t too hot. Then, place your sausages back in and turn the heat down to 390 ºF.
  3. Cook the sausages for another six minutes before pulling the basket out once more and flipping them. After another 6-8 minutes, they should be done! However, I would still recommend double-checking to see if the insides are pink, or using a meat thermometer to ensure you reach 160 ºF.

Kielbasa, Cooking, And Air Fryers

Kielbasa – the famous Polish sausage. As I’ve stated many times throughout this article, this food is excellent for lazy days. It’s even better when you don’t have to grease (or dirty!) a baking pan. To cook these smoked sausages, simply place them in your air fryer and cook for ten minutes – a little longer for frozen – flipping them halfway through. Besides the cooking temperature (I’d recommend 370ºF), that’s all there really is to it!
