Bottled water is increasingly popular in a lot of areas globally, as it is a lot more accessible and easier than filling a glass up from a water dispenser. Drinking bottled water is also a great way to manage your water consumption and ensure that you are always properly hydrated. But does Dasani have salt, and is it bad to drink?

Among Fiji, Voss, Evian, and other leading water brands, Dasani is sold almost globally in a lot of supermarkets and general stores. It can be easily identified by the blue labeling and immediately recognizable font.

Dasani water is known for being refreshing and having added minerals that enhance the flavor of the water. In the list of added minerals, you can find salt and potassium chloride as being listed.

This shows that there is salt added to the Dasani water before it is bottled.

Salt being added to water may sound like a bad idea, or like you are drinking seawater. Yet it has been proven that a tiny bit of salt in water has some benefits, and make it taste more invigoratingly fresh.

By this, I am referencing the nutritional chart that is shown on packaged foods to show their nutritional value. If there was an unhealthy amount of salt in the water then this chart would indicate that by showing that there is a lot of sodium in the water.

However, the amount of sodium in the water is 0% which shows there are only trace amounts of salt used purely for the taste.

Taste is a very subjective topic to cover as not everyone can perceive tastes and flavors in the same way. I’ve previously talked about the taste of different food, such as chai’s flavor, or how taro tastes like.

While it is completely dependent on both your body and the water, it will not taste the same to everyone.

Alas, water does actually have a flavor and it can change depending on where the water was bottled and what has been added to it. Not only does water have a taste, but it can also have a texture. This does not mean it can be slightly more viscous, it means that water can be soft or hard.

Depending on the minerals in the water, it can have a varying flavor and texture to any alternative water.

While the taste of water can be difficult to describe, it works by activating your sour or sweet taste receptors. If there is a decent salt content in the water – it will activate your sour receptors which will make you thirsty and drink more.

Water comes in a lot of different types and can be sourced in a lot of different ways. These water types are;

All of these types are defined by where they are sourced and what is found within them. Most of them are naturally occurring and will have different minerals in them.

Apart from sparkling water, as this has been artificially infused with carbon dioxide to give it the fizz that it is known for. Opposite of decarbonating drinks! This changes the taste into a more acidic sensation.

A lot of people can find it incredibly difficult to remain hydrated as they do not like drinking water and do not drink enough a day to get their recommended amount.

There are a few easy ways that this can be countered to try and help yourself drink more throughout the day. Just forcing yourself to drink it is never the answer as this can make you dislike water even more.

Add fruit and herbs to your water. To make your water more like juice, you can try partially infusing it with herbs and fruit. This can be as simple as throwing some strawberries into your water.

To get more flavor, mash and muddle the herbs or fruit so that they combine with the water more effectively.

Citrus fruits such as lemons and lime are a great source of both flavor and vitamin C. If you are wanting to drink more water and enjoy these flavors – squeeze some of their juices into your water and stir it around. This will give you a really refreshing and citrusy drink that also has extra vitamin C in it.

Sparkling water is certainly not for everyone, yet some people enjoy it more than drinking normal water. The carbonated texture can make it more enjoyable. It is worth trying if that’s what it takes to drink more then it is definitely worth it.

Flavor your water. You can easily flavor your water by adding some sugarless flavor packets to it. These will not change the amount of hydration you get from the water but they will change how it tastes. Another way to do this is to trick your other senses into thinking the water is flavored. Up-and-coming water company AirUp has designed some scented pods that make you smell a certain flavor while drinking water – which in turn makes your brain think the water is flavored. You can also do this by making ice cubes from juice and as they melt they will flavor your water.
